Little Chef originally started as an instructional guide. The idea came from my children who love to cook and want to be able to cook on their own. They have been helping me in the kitchen since they were two years old and I wanted to find a tool which they would be able to use to cook on their own. The instructional guide was designed to be a modified recipe with age appropriate terminology and instructions. While the paper version of the guide worked extremely well it was tedious to continue to print them whenever the girls wanted to cook. This brought about the development of an application they could use on our iPhone that could be used over and over again. These artifacts support ISTE Standard 1.b and 2.c for Teachers in that it engages students in exploring real-world issues and solving problems with digital tools and resources. My girls love the application so much that we are working on adding additional recipes. In addition this artifact demonstrates the customization and personalization of learning activities to address diverse working strategies and abilities using a digital too.
